How To Improve Your SEO: Your guide to Google Business Profile optimisation

Most of us are well familiar with what Google is, it’s simply a search engine that aims to deliver the most relevant search results for its users. To inform Google on what content is most relevant, Google uses robots to crawl websites and it’s connections, backlinks, searching for indications that a business is active and is keeping in regular contact with its audience.
But what types of indicators is Google looking for?

Well the Google Business Profile, formerly Google My Business, is a great starting point, and a starting point you likely already have set up. Unfortunately, there is a large number of people out there who have a set and forget mindset when it comes to this digital asset! This can have a massive impact on how Google ranks your website, especially if you have been inactive, it’s a great starting point! 

Here’s some practical tips you can implement in an afternoon!
– Update your business hours (the number of businesses who miss their holiday hours out etc.)
– Add some new photos and videos! If you’ve had a new member of staff join your company, this is a great opportunity to upload a new photo of your member of staff and include a write up about them – personalising your business even more whilst improving your SEO!
– COVID 19 updates
– Upcoming events
– Future promotions
– If your business has a store and has had recent upgrades, highlight the new look and encourage people to get instore.

One great feature of posting to your business profile is that you can link your posts back to your website! This is small, but all good quality back links are worth their weight in gold.
